Band History

Rio 5 were formed in 1975 and had a successful playing career around the pubs and clubs of the east midlands. The band went their seperate ways in the early 80's. In 2006 guitarist Ian Palfreyman contacted front man Dave Stone with a view to resurrecting the band. Rio 5 is now born again with a new line up but with the same magic formula.

The Show

We base our performance around 1 x 45 minute and 1 x 60 minute sets. This is in line with most bands and acts of this type. We can work around your requirements though to make sure we fit in with what you want. Let us know in advance so we can plan the performance. We are quite flexible and can change things on the day if necessary. See our F.A.Q. page for more information.

We have the sound system to handle anything from small rooms to large outdoor events. Having a 1200 watt P.A. for the smaller venues and a 5kw system to handle the medium to larger venues and a massive 12.5kw rig for outdoor events. We also have a full light and effects show including computerised DMX type lights to compliment the music.

We need to get in early at the venue and set our equipment up. We need to do a full sound check to make sure the sound is of a high quality and suits the venue. We try not to disturb you during this process. It usually takes about 1 ½ hours.

The band are covered by public liability insurance.
