Dave Stone

Lead Vocals

What can we say about this guy? What a voice, he has all the right moves, the charm and a wonderful stage presence to get your party or event rocking. His powerful and yet mellow vocal tones will have your guests dancing in the aisles all night. Alternatively, just sit back and listen to his renditions of popular songs spanning 5 decades from classic 50's rock ‘n' roll, through 70's rock, to modern day hits and smooth ballads.

Dave started his singing career way back in the early 70's with local bands before forming RIO 5 in the late 70's. The band went their separate ways and Dave spent the last 8 years performing with the hugely popular “Silly Burgers” comedy band. He yearned to get his own band again, and so RIO 5 was re-born in 2006.

Ian Palfreyman

Guitar, Backing Vocals

The man who made it all happen and put RIO 5 back together. The band's musical director, or so he likes to think! An all round nice, friendly guy, unusual for a lead guitarist some might say! On stage a competent musician who can adapt to a wide range of styles. He likes to chip in with the occasional vocal harmonies, which complement the band's full, rich sound.

Symon Havenhand

Drums and Percussion

The engine room of the band and they don't come more rock steady than Symon. He keeps us all in check with his great sense of rhythm and control and will have the crowd dancing all night to the beat. A top quality drummer with great skill and many years experience to his credit. Just check out his tackle!

Kev Bloom

Keyboards, Backing Vocals

Wow! We are in awe of this man's talent on the keyboards. Kev has been playing in bands since he was a kid The baby of the band and Mr Cool on stage. Kev's playing gives that band that extra “something”. Whether it's that 60's Hammond sound, rocking piano, or a horns section, it sounds like we are touring with a full orchestra backing us. Respect!

Chris Aston

Bass, Backing Vocals

Chris has many years experience of the music scene. Also an accomplished guitarist in his own right, his scorching bass lines and smooth tones make this man an essential part of the Rio sound. His backing vocals add that little extra something to the overall sound. He takes the occasional lead on vocals too, to give our poor old frontman a break! Sharp, a bit of a joker some would say. Unusually for a bass player!

Martin Ball

Guitar, Lap Steel, Backing Vocals

The search is over, welcome in the "Mighty Atom". Martin is our newest member of the band. Classically-trained, his skills and expereince as a musician are second to none. His cool jazz rhythms and searing lead lines provide Rio 5 with that elusive complete sound that so many bands search for. The two guitarists combine perfectly. He also provides backing harmony vocals and like Chris, he will take the occasional lead on vocals too.
